Schools remain open but without classes. This is the situation in Alicante's educational centres following the massive blackout experienced yesterday. Although the electricity supply has been restored, the Emergency Coordination Centre has recommended suspending classes for Tuesday. However, schools will remain open to continue providing dining and transport services.

The municipalities of the province's main cities have used social media to announce this measure in recent hours, including Alicante, Orihuela, Torrevieja, and Alcoi. In Alcoi, the announcement was even broadcast via the loudspeakers of Local Police patrol cars on Monday afternoon, due to the main communication systems being affected by the blackout.

This applies to primary, secondary, vocational, and nursery schools. As for universities, the situation varies. The University of Alicante has decided to suspend all activities, both academic and work-related, across its campuses. They have announced that further instructions for Wednesday will be provided as the day progresses.

The suspension of classes also affects the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, although work activities continue in person, "unless access is impeded," as stated by the institution's rector, Juan Jose Ruiz Martínez, via his X account.

The university aiming to return to normality this Tuesday is the CEU Cardenal Herrera University of Elche, which maintains its work and academic activities "as usual." However, they announced that student attendance will not be mandatory nor considered in evaluations. Additionally, the university has postponed all exams or assessable activities to a later date.

Another university in the province suspending classes this Tuesday is the Polytechnic University of Valencia, affecting all three campuses, including Alcoi. Initially, the suspension was only until 2 PM, but it was announced in the morning that afternoon sessions would also be cancelled.
