Alicante will have a new school from the next academic year 2025-2026, starting in September. It will be the 56th Primary and Infant Education School (CEIP) in the city, located in the Pla-Carolina neighbourhood, one of the areas most affected by unexpected enrolments, meaning students arriving mid-year.

However, for now, it will be in temporary classrooms or prefabricated units. The Local Government Board approved on Tuesday the preparation of the plot where the new school will be located, on Polop Street. It will be the same site where the Pedro Duque School was previously situated, also in temporary classrooms, for several years.

The construction work will last two months and will be ready to welcome students in September, according to the City Council. This centre will have 18 classrooms, two per grade, covering the second cycle of Infant and Primary Education. In total, more than 400 students will start the new academic year there.

For the 2025/26 academic year, the planned educational offer in Alicante is 9,589 places in Infant Education and 20,899 in Primary Education.
