From 3,500 to 6,000 euros. This is the amount of the Manuela Solís scholarships awarded by the Department of Education for the current academic year 2024-2025 to nearly two thousand university students in the province of Alicante. The Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) has published the resolution of these grants, which also includes the rejected applications.
Of the total number of students who have obtained the scholarship, 1,371 are studying at the University of Alicante (UA), the institution in the Community with the most beneficiaries; while another 538 are doing the same at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. There are also 82 beneficiaries studying at the Cardenal Herrera University, although the Department's information does not specify how many of them belong to the Elche and Valencia campuses respectively.
A total of 17,548,500 euros has been allocated for these grants, which will benefit nearly 5,000 university students in the Community.
Who was Manuela Solís?
The Manuela Solís scholarships are named in honour of the first woman to graduate in Medicine from the University of Valencia and are compatible with the grants from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, as well as with the Generalitat's own calls.
