Scare in Dénia's Port: Flames Engulf Several Boats in El Portet Area

The port of Dénia has once again experienced a night of turmoil. If in the early hours of Thursday a fire consumed a catamaran in the shipyard area, just a few hours ago, two boats moored in the public area of Marina El Portet were reduced to ashes in just a few minutes due to a fire on one of them, the origin of which is currently unknown. However, it is not ruled out that the high temperatures, exceeding 30 degrees throughout Sunday, may have contributed to the fire.

The flames started around 11 p.m. on Sunday on one of the boats docked near the fish market area of the port and quickly spread to at least one other nearby vessel.

Immediately, police officers and firefighters from Dénia's station were dispatched to the scene to work on extinguishing the fire and prevent further damage to other boats, as the flames remained active until the early morning.

The thick black smoke was visible from various parts of the city, especially around Raset. In fact, residents and tourists enjoying a stroll in the area were caught off guard by the flames.

Now, firefighters are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and assess how many boats have been affected.

In just four days, there have been two fires in Dénia's port area. The first occurred in the early hours of Thursday when a catamaran was engulfed in flames. Throughout the night, 11 fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze that affected the vessel at the Pansa dock and forced the evacuation of nearby boats for fear of the fire spreading.
