The meteoric rise of Sassuolo to Italy's Serie A leaves the future of "Canario" Álvarez at Elche uncertain. The Uruguayan forward, who scored eight goals for the team, has two more years on his contract with the Italian club, which celebrated its leap to the top tier with five games to spare.

Álvarez acknowledges that he would like to stay at Elche due to the great confidence placed in him by coach Eder Sarabia, although he noted that the decision is not up to him, as he is on loan until June from Unione Sportiva Sassuolo.

"I have two more years on my contract, but it depends on the clubs. It's something I leave to the people who have to deal with it," said the Uruguayan player, who took the opportunity to congratulate Sassuolo on their promotion.

Agustín Álvarez valued the recent experience with the Uruguay national team despite not participating in any of the two World Cup qualifying matches. "I didn't get to play, but I did train with teammates who play for the best teams and have a very high level," commented the forward, explaining that all Uruguayan players wish to "go to the national team."

"Even if you don't get to play, you give your all for the national team. I learned a lot from a coach like Bielsa and also from all my teammates, like Darwin. I'm very happy to go even if I didn't play," he assured.

The striker from San Bautista admitted that Elche is in great form, but he refrained from assessing their promotion chances, despite tools like Artificial Intelligence suggesting they have more than an 85% chance of achieving it.

"I don't look at the numbers much; I focus on the day-to-day," said Álvarez, who acknowledged that Elche is currently in great form after securing four consecutive victories and addressing their away game challenges. "We managed to improve that little bit away from home against tough opponents. The group is doing well, and we want to get promoted," affirmed the forward, adding that the team is convinced of their goal.

Agustín Álvarez praised the team's unity and the competition among players as key factors in Elche's good performance and admitted that he is a player who likes to celebrate victories enthusiastically "because the matches are tough and hard-fought."

Regarding which player he feels most comfortable with in attack, the Uruguayan indicated that he feels good with both Mourad and Sory Kaba and appreciated having enjoyed many minutes after several years in Italy with little participation.
