Sales of electrified vehicles (100% electric and plug-in hybrids) of all types (passenger cars, two-wheelers, commercial, and industrial vehicles) have accumulated a decline of 7.3% until August, amounting to 81,390 units, according to data from the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE) and the National Association of Vehicle Sellers (GANVAM). Thus, the electric mobility market closed August—a month traditionally marked by lower sales due to the vacation period—with a decrease of 21.6%, totaling 6,811 units.

Registrations of 100% electric vehicles of all types (passenger cars, two-wheelers, commercial, and industrial vehicles) fell by 28.9% in August, with a total of 3,770 units registered.

So far this year, they have dropped by 10.2%, reaching 42,527 units, mainly due to a decline in registrations in the business and rental channels, which fell by 36.1% and 53.2%, respectively, last month.

On the other hand, purchases of pure electric vehicles in the private channel fell by 19.1% in August but have accumulated an increase of 10.6% until August. Thus, half of the total registrations of pure electric vehicles are made by private individuals.

Meanwhile, registrations of electric mopeds recorded a decline of 47.1% last month, with a total of 298 units registered. Until August, they have fallen by 54.7%, amounting to 1,722 units. In their case, registrations of zero-emission motorcycles stood at 378 units in August, representing a 38% decrease. So far this year, they have recorded a decline of 33%, totaling 3,513 registered units.

The data from AEDIVE and GANVAM show that registrations of electric vans also declined in August by 35.6%, amounting to 208 units sold. Year-to-date sales have decreased by 21.6%, with a total of 3,216 units. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations fell by 10.2% last month, totaling 3,041 units registered. Year-to-date figures show a decline of 4%, reaching 38,863 units when combining passenger cars with vans, buses, and heavy industrial vehicles.

In summary, in a market where overall passenger car registrations—including both electrified and combustion—fell by more than 6% in August, electrified models (100% electric + plug-in hybrids) accounted for 10.8% of the total.
