After connecting with the chimes of Big Ben from a beach in Alicante, the British capital continues to grace the screens of the province. Five municipalities will simultaneously showcase the production 'The Tales of Hoffmann' from London's Royal Opera House.
Damiano Michieletto's production, which premiered last November in this iconic venue, will be broadcast in cinemas across the province in a delayed live format via satellite from London this Wednesday, January 15, at 7:45 PM.
The Kinépolis cinemas in Alicante, Cinema Roma in L'Alfàs del Pi, IMF in Torrevieja and Ondara, and Cine Club Villena will host the digital premiere of this spectacle, alongside over two thousand cinemas in more than 40 countries.
The production stars the renowned tenor Juan Diego Flórez as the poet E.T.A. Hoffmann, accompanied by Ermonela Jaho, Olga Pudova, and Marina Costa-Jackson as the protagonist's three fateful loves. Also featured are Alex Esposito as the Four Villains and Julie Boulianne as Nicklausse, Hoffmann's loyal companion.
The award-winning director Damiano Michieletto presents a "unique and evocative" vision of this dreamlike masterpiece by Offenbach. It showcases "a journey through time," exploring different stages of the protagonist's life, such as the child, the young man, and the disillusioned adult.
With this production, Michieletto collaborates once again with musical director Antonello Manacorda, with whom he worked on the production of 'Carmen'. In 'The Tales of Hoffmann', he is also joined by set designer Paolo Fantin, costume designer Carla Teti, lighting designer Alessandro Carletti, and choreographer Chiara Vecchi.
The cast includes distinguished performers such as Christopher Mortagne, Vincent Ordonneau, Alastair Miles, and Christine Rice, alongside emerging talents Grisha Martirosyan and Ryan Vaughan Davies.
