Robe Iniesta (Plasencia, Cáceres, aged 62) has cancelled the two farewell concerts of his current tour, which were scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at the WiZink Center in Madrid. The singer, songwriter, and leader of his band is suffering from a serious pulmonary condition, an embolism or thromboembolism, which requires complete rest for recovery. This was communicated by his team on their official social media channels just three hours before the start of the first of the two performances.
All 15,000 tickets for each of the concerts had been sold. The organisers have announced that the ticket costs will be automatically refunded next week. The two concerts were meant to be the grand finale of the successful 'Neither Saints Nor Innocents' tour, which had sold out all tickets for its two dates in the capital, as had happened in almost all previous tour dates.
"We regret to inform you that we are forced to cancel this weekend's concerts. Robe has been diagnosed with a pulmonary thromboembolism, which requires him to rest completely, putting his health at serious risk otherwise," read the brief statement posted on the musician's official Facebook page.
"We are devastated not to be able to finish this wonderful tour as planned, but we will not risk Robe's health for anything in the world. Hugs and kisses," concluded the message. Iniesta is receiving treatment and is expected to improve in the coming days.
Pulmonary embolism or thromboembolism (PE) is a serious condition that occurs when a clot blocks an artery in the lungs, hindering circulation and oxygenation of these vital organs. Symptoms of PE may include difficulty breathing and chest pain, especially when inhaling, and bloody cough.
