Richard Gere jokes about the curious start of his relationship with Alejandra Silva

Richard Gere, the renowned 75-year-old actor, shared an amusing anecdote about the beginning of his relationship with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, during the ELLE for Future 2024 event held in Madrid. While receiving the Eco Award, Gere revealed with laughter that Silva "had no idea" who he was when they first met. "She didn't watch movies, which was fantastic. I was very happy about that," the actor said, humorously adding that she even mistook him for George Clooney. Silva, on her part, clarified that she did know who Gere was, although she admitted she hadn't seen many of his films until then.

The couple, who secretly married in 2018, have two young children, Alexander and James, and have recently settled in the Spanish capital to be near Silva's family. Gere described this phase of his life as "the best time." "I love my wife very much. She's incredible, a wonderful mother. The children are healthy and happy. Of course, there's nothing more than that," confessed the actor, who is currently involved in several projects, including the premiere of his series 'The Agency'.
