Revolution is on the horizon for HLA Alicante to make a 180-degree turn from the worrying trend that has led the Lucentum team to the bottom of the Primera FEB standings with a dismal record of zero wins and eight losses.

HLA Alicante was very clear that they could not make mistakes in decision-making once the season started, and that's why negotiations have been slow-cooked. Two of them have already come to fruition and are official: the coach Rubén Perelló and the experienced forward Mindaugas Kacinas.

Perelló returns home, where he achieved promotion to the ACB League as a coach in the 2012/2013 season. The new coach of HLA Alicante has extensive experience in the second tier of national basketball. Last season, he signed as an assistant coach in Fuenlabrada, a position he held until his current signing with Lucentum.

Perelló was an assistant in the ACB for the former Lucentum coach, Andreu Casadevall, with Basket Zaragoza in the 2015/16 season. After this experience, he signed with Almansa, achieving three consecutive promotions and leading the team to the Primera FEB, formerly LEB Oro. This is his thirteenth season in the category, where he has also been an assistant coach in Burgos, Gandía, and Melilla.

Meanwhile, Kacinas arrives in Alicante after playing with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian CEBL. With extensive experience in the former LEB Oro, Kacinas played in Ourense in the 23/24 season, where he averaged 10.6 points and 5 rebounds per game.

The new HLA Alicante player arrived in Spain in the 19/20 season with his signing for Palencia Baloncesto. In his first season in LEB Oro, he achieved averages of 8.7 points and 6.1 rebounds. From Palencia, he moved to Río Breogán the following season, with 8.6 points and 4.5 rebounds on average, in the season where the Lucenses were promoted to the Liga Endesa. Kacinas played in the ACB with Breogán in the 21/22 season and returned to LEB Oro with San Pablo Burgos in the 22/23 season, a team with which he reached the Final 4 for promotion to the ACB, averaging 7 points and 3 rebounds with a 38.6% in three-pointers, in 20 minutes per game.

The Lithuanian player began his professional career in the US college league in the 2012/13 season with the South Carolina Gamecocks. After his college career, he played in Lithuania with Neptunas Klaipeda and in Iceland with Keflavik.
