Revelations Emerge on Meghan Markle's Demands for Vogue Cover Feature

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, finds herself once again at the centre of media controversy. According to various sources, in 2022, she attempted to simultaneously grace the September covers of both the British and American editions of Vogue, a privilege typically reserved for globally renowned figures like singer Adele. However, sources close to the negotiations revealed that the most striking aspect was her list of demands to control all aspects related to the publication.

"Not even Beyoncé would have asked for so much," a source involved in the process told the American outlet Page Six, indicating that Markle demanded complete control over the photographer, the texts, the final edit, and the headlines, as well as a global editorial coordination.

The demands of Prince Harry's wife were unfeasible for the publication, compounded by the fact that the then-editor of British Vogue, Edward Enninful, had already committed the cover to Linda Evangelista. Yet, undeterred, the Duchess of Sussex arranged a personal video call with Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue US, hoping to persuade her to change course. However, the editorial decision was already made, and Wintour only agreed to the call out of courtesy, acknowledging Markle's public position as a former member of the British royal family.

As a result, Markle eventually appeared on the digital cover of The Cut, where she promoted her podcast Archetypes. The encounter strained the relationship between the actress and Enninful, though it did not completely sever. Later, when tensions eased, they resumed cordial contact, exchanging mutual congratulatory messages on special occasions.
