The Catholic Association of Propagandists (ACdP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis, trusting that he now enjoys the loving presence of God. For this reason, they maintained the celebration of their festival (now in its third annual edition), which took place this Saturday afternoon at Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid.
"Today, those of us who are part of the ACdP experience a profound sense of ecclesial orphanhood at the departure of one who has been our Father and Shepherd in such turbulent times," the organisation stated in a communiqué. Therefore, they have offered their prayers and sacrifices for the eternal rest of his soul, entrusting him to the God of Mercy, Justice, and Hope, to whom he tirelessly dedicated his life.
"With heartfelt gratitude, we remember today the words that Pope Francis addressed to the attendees of the I Resurrection Festival, organised by the ACdP in 2023, when he stated: 'It is not inappropriate to respond with music to the immense gift that the Lord gave us with his Resurrection. Saint Augustine, commenting on a psalm, said that with our song we give voice to the heart, for otherwise it would be difficult to express that joy. Moreover, by becoming the voice of all creation, we urge the world to join our jubilation.' " "His letter - the ACdP recalled - concluded with a very special request: "And, please, if those who sing pray twice, do not forget to sing for me. And, go ahead: Sing and walk!"
Finally, the Catholic Association of Propagandists noted that, "following the Holy Father's wish, our III Resurrection Festival will be a great hymn of praise and gratitude to God, celebrating the life and ministry of Pope Francis." And the very development of this event, which combines religion with music, confirmed this on Saturday.
