Residents of San Juan Beach have demanded that the Alicante City Council and the Generalitat expedite the construction of a new health centre in the area. Consequently, they have begun to outline a schedule of protests to ensure their demands are not forgotten.
The "Juntos Avanzamos" neighbourhood association in this Alicante district has highlighted in a statement that while there have been advancements in other pending centres in the city, such as PAU 2 - whose construction began last Thursday - and Garbinet, "ours still has no start date," lamented the association's president, José Caracena.
The neighbourhood leader explained that San Juan Beach is one of the most populated areas of Alicante and is continuously growing. Additionally, during the summer months, the population doubles. "This is a real injustice; our current health centre is completely overwhelmed," he stated. Therefore, the residents have decided to take a stand, "we will not tolerate further delays or excuses. If we do not receive a favourable response from the authorities, the association will be forced to take more drastic measures," Caracena affirmed.

The residents have demanded that the Health Minister, Marciano Gómez, accelerate the construction timelines for the new health centre at San Juan Beach. "We will not accept further delays or bureaucratic excuses," they emphasised.
Finally, the association has stated that they will call on all residents to mobilise to demand the construction of the new health centre in the area. "We cannot allow our rights to continue being ignored. Together, we will ensure our voices are heard!" they concluded in the statement.
This is not the only demand from these residents. In addition to the lack of a new health centre, they also call for expedited processes for other pending educational facilities, as many residents are young people with children who need these services.
They also advocate for the need for a community centre that can accommodate activities for both young people and the elderly, promoting active ageing. Furthermore, they stress the need to improve the neighbourhood's communication with the administration through a municipal office that allows some procedures with the City Council to be carried out without having to travel to the centre of Alicante.
