Two residents were injured, one of them suffering burns that required hospitalization at Elche General Hospital, after a fire destroyed a bungalow near the Martínez Valero stadium in Elche, specifically on Ciudad de Figueres street.

The fire originated early in the morning, around 9:40 am, in a basement mattress for reasons yet to be determined by the investigation. The flames spread throughout the building, forcing the two women, aged 22 and 51, to evacuate before emergency services arrived.

The Provincial Firefighters Consortium deployed a command unit, a heavy urban pump, a heavy and light tanker, along with six firefighters from the Elche and Crevillent stations, including a sergeant and two corporals as commanders. They spent over an hour controlling and extinguishing the flames, declaring the fire extinguished around 11:06 am.

Meanwhile, the Cicu mobilized a Basic Life Support unit that attended to the 22-year-old woman for smoke inhalation, who requested voluntary discharge, and transported the other resident, aged 51, to Elche General Hospital for burns.
