Residents of the PAU 2 San Blas Neighbourhood Association have expressed their concerns about the uncertainty surrounding the completion of Alicante's Vía Parque, an infrastructure they consider "key to the development and connection of the entire city".
In a statement, the residents criticise that, despite the previous Valencian Government having agreed with the City Council to advance the project, the arrival of the new Consell led by Carlos Mazón has altered this commitment. They claim that now, even though the necessary expropriations have been made, "new doubts" arise and alternative solutions are being sought.
The association describes this situation as "bewildering" and warns of the risk that the project may be halted, as has happened — they recall — with other infrastructures promised by the Generalitat, such as the PAU 2 health centre. "These kinds of changes in already agreed decisions do not benefit the city or its residents," laments their president, Miguel Ángel Gracia.
Therefore, they urge the Generalitat and the City Council to coordinate "in a loyal, clear, and committed manner" to ensure that the work continues "without further delays or changes of course". "The residents of Alicante cannot continue to bear the consequences of institutional disorganisation," concludes the statement.
