The level of the reservoirs in the Júcar basin has increased by 7.3% in the last week due to the DANA, reaching 47.6% of their capacity. The water reserves in these reservoirs now amount to 1,360.45 cubic hectometers, 209.33 more than the previous week, according to the information updated every Tuesday by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco).

The reservoirs that have grown the most in the last seven days are those directly affected by the rainfall: Benagéber, which has accumulated 46.66% more water (39.14 cubic hectometers more); Contreras, with 37.22% more; Tous, with 32.81% more; and Forata, with 22.30%. This last reservoir, which during the worst moments of the pandemic exceeded 100% of its capacity and thus prevented the tragedy from reaching the city of Valencia, is now at 73.93% of its level.

Throughout Spain, water reserves are at 51.7% of their total capacity, and reservoirs currently store 28,952 cubic hectometers. In the last week, the level has increased by 917 cubic hectometers (1.6% of the current total capacity of the reservoirs).

By regions, those with the highest accumulated levels are the internal basins of the Basque Country, at 95.2%; the Eastern Cantabrian, at 91.8%; and the Ebro, at 72%. The ones with the least are the internal basins of Catalonia, at 31.8%; the Andalusian Mediterranean basin, at 26.9%; and the Segura, at 18.1%.

The 28,952 cubic meters of accumulated water represent 5,500 more than the previous year, when 23,279 were stored, and are also above the average of the last ten years, which stood at 25,729.
