She reports her purse being stolen and the cards used to pay at a nightclub. At the same time and in the same place, the supposed victim of the theft, a 53-year-old woman, was present. She had requested her insurance to cover the amount she claimed was defrauded. In the end, she was arrested for simulating a violent robbery.

The National Police have reported these events, with agents arresting the protagonist for falsely reporting being a victim of this violent robbery. The woman went to the police station in Elche to report that a man on a bicycle snatched her purse as he sped past.

In the report, the 53-year-old woman also stated that she was unable to react due to the speed of the alleged theft, which caused her severe neck pain. She also provided documentation of expenses made with her credit card - kept in the stolen purse - which were allegedly made by the thief.

After gathering the information provided by the woman, National Police agents began the investigation, during which they noticed several inconsistencies in the complainant's account of the events.

Thief and Victim in the Same Bar

One of the most striking inconsistencies for the investigators was marked by the payments, allegedly fraudulent as they were made by the supposed thief, at the nightclub. The agents found that the complainant was present at the same venue and time, making it "quite implausible" that both the perpetrator and victim were in the same place after the robbery.

Among other checks carried out by the National Police agents, it was discovered that the 53-year-old woman had requested her insurance to cover the amount she claimed had been defrauded.

Given these facts, the agents proceeded to arrest the woman for her involvement in a crime of simulation of a crime and fraud. The detainee, after the completion of police procedures, has been brought before the duty courts in Elche.

The Crime of False Reports

The National Police remind that filing a false report is a crime that can lead to criminal consequences. Moreover, such actions consume resources that could be allocated to solving real crimes and protecting genuine victims.

Citizens are advised to act responsibly and always approach law enforcement in case of being a victim of a crime, providing truthful information to facilitate the investigation and ensure an effective response.
