Renault's sales in Spain consist of 54% vehicles manufactured in Valladolid and Palencia. The electrified models, including hybrids and mild hybrids, have been a success for Renault, with particularly strong figures for the newcomer, the Renault 5.

Although the car has only been in the catalogue for a few months, it has already accumulated over 1,500 orders, a notable figure considering it is a 100% electric vehicle.

Addressing Spain's lag in electrification is one of the challenges set by the diamond brand, which closed the 2024 fiscal year with a 14% growth, double the market average. Renault recorded a total of 1,577,351 vehicles, including passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. This marks the second consecutive year of growth for the brand.

While the electric vehicle market has seen significant growth in recent years, its penetration in Spain still presents challenges. According to ANFAC data, 100% electric cars accounted for approximately 5.6% of total registrations in 2024. The European average exceeds 15%, with variations between countries, but Spain remains at the lower end.

For Renault, 13.0% of its sales are electric. The Renault 5 E-Tech electric, which arrived in France in October, was the best-selling electric car in November and December. Regarding its sales of electrified vehicles (100% electric and hybrids), the diamond brand detailed that these increased by 20% in 2024.

In Spain, Sébastien Guigues, Director of Renault in Spain, believes the brand could reach 10% electric model sales. According to the executive, there are three key factors. Firstly, the price factor is crucial as "we are not going to electrify Spain by selling cars for 50,000 euros." In this regard, the arrival of the new Renault 5 below 25,000 euros, and the Twingo next year, with a price under 20,000 (the official price has not yet been revealed by the brand), could become two pillars to achieve the goal.

The other two points mentioned by Guigues during the brand's results presentation are the development of a "growing" network of chargers, and thirdly, "clear aid plans."

In Spain, Renault has positioned itself as the second best-selling brand with a market share of 7.9%, "the best in the last six years," the French group emphasized. Furthermore, it indicated that the brand continues its strategy by relying, on one hand, on a hybrid offer (40% of thermal vehicle sales) and, on the other, on a 100% electric offer.
