Two of the three young men arrested for the violent death of a couple in mid-April this year at their home in Chiloeches (Guadalajara) were released this Friday from Alcalá Meco-Madrid II prison (Madrid) hours after the judge of the Guadalajara Court of Instruction No. 4, who is handling the case, ordered their release after consulting with the prosecution and the private accusation.
They are David and Christian Borja, aged 24 and 23, who had been in provisional detention, communicated and without bail, for seven months. The latter was still the boyfriend of Laura, 22, who was stabbed to death along with her parents, Ángel Villar and Elvira Fernández, aged 52, despite having a restraining order. The murder charge has been dropped for both, but it remains for Fernando, 23, the confessed perpetrator of the crime, who is accused of murder, robbery with violence in an inhabited dwelling, and arson. Charges have also been dropped against Fernando's girlfriend, Wendy, of Venezuelan origin, who was considered an accomplice in Fernando's escape and never entered prison.
The triple murder occurred on April 13 in a single-family home located in the "Medina Azahara" urbanization of Chiloeches, a town of 4,000 inhabitants. In the early hours of that day, Fernando entered the house armed with a bayonet knife intending to steal a collection of watches that Ángel kept, watches that, in reality, had little value. However, what Fernando thought would be a safe and problem-free robbery turned into a massacre. Ángel woke up and confronted the thief, who ended up stabbing the couple and their daughter, who was also in the house. The one who was fortunate enough to survive and escape was Yerai, Laura's 21-year-old brother, who alerted the emergency services at 112. Upon returning to the family home, he found part of the house on fire. When the firefighters extinguished the flames, they found the three lifeless bodies. Subsequent investigations have confirmed that Cristian Borja was the one who had the idea to rob the house because he knew what was inside due to his romantic relationship with Laura and thought the family kept 30,000 euros in cash from the sale of a house.
As for Fernando, the urbanization's surveillance cameras recorded him fleeing in a vehicle towards Pioz (Guadalajara), where he lived, after setting the house on fire with a meager loot: about a thousand euros in cash and a collection of 14 watches of little value.
