Renovation and renewal works at the Museum of the Festa began this Monday with the packing and transportation of all the pieces housed in the space since it opened in 1997. This project is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan, as explained by the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Irene Ruiz, and also includes improvements to the museum content.
The renovation, awarded for 80,000 euros, includes the installation of a ramp in the San Sebastián chapel to improve accessibility, the enhancement of the existing elevator, the renovation of the restrooms, and the adaptation of the entire space. The aim is to add more value to the San Sebastián chapel, which will be used as an exhibition space. The renovation will take two months to complete.
Meanwhile, work will proceed on the musealization project for the Museum of the Festa, which will be awarded in the coming weeks for a value of 400,000 euros, fully funded by Next Generation European funds. "The goal is to provide this museum with more content and greater interactivity, to speak more about devotion, the people's part, the Festa, as well as the music, the score, or the costumes," Ruiz noted. The project will have a four-month execution period during which the most significant pieces will be selected for exhibition, and reproductions of historical documents or engravings will be made.
"This is a project we are very excited about, and thanks to it, we will have a Museum of the Festa in line with the times we live in, as we will provide it with what we believe should be the main content: the Misteri d'Elx, one of our world heritage sites," concluded Irene Ruiz.
