The anticipated reduction of the Property Tax (IBI) for properties affected by the Special Plan of the Historic City of La Vila Joiosa now hinges on the final decision of the Territorial Cadastre Management of Alicante. The city's mayor, Marcos Zaragoza, has requested the application of specific coefficients to allow this relief in the bill.

With this, the mayor has addressed the claim of the Old Town Association, a neighbourhood group that has been requesting this discount since 2018. In this instance, the mayor has asked the Cadastre to ensure the discount applies not only to those who have already claimed it through the association but to all property owners in the historic ensemble declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Consequently, he has sent the catalogue of protected assets and spaces derived from the Special Plan of the Historic City to the Cadastre Management of Alicante.

To this end, Zaragoza has held a meeting with representatives of the neighbourhood association, which was also attended by the Councillor for Historical Heritage and Neighbourhood Syndic, Rosa Llorca. During this meeting, issues related to future investments in the neighbourhood were discussed, such as the renovation of the church square or the reactivation of the vehicle access control system. Additionally, the mayor informed residents that, thanks to the approval of the Annual Regulatory Plan for the first time, various municipal ordinances affecting the historic neighbourhood will be reviewed this year.

Zaragoza also reiterated his commitment to attracting not only tourists but also residents, so that the historic neighbourhood becomes not only a tourist attraction but also a "pleasant place to live." He has therefore requested their participation. "We are here to improve the neighbourhood, and we want to do it with proposals shared with the residents," Zaragoza pointed out.

This meeting will be held periodically with the Neighbourhood Syndic, as in other areas with their respective assigned councillors.
