Record Number of Passengers on TRAM: Over 20 Million in 2024

Line 2, with 8.1 million journeys, was the most used, and Luceros was the busiest station with 3.5 million passengers

Public transport breaks all records in 2024. Adding to the success of the bus, which reached 23.5 million passengers last year, is the TRAM, achieving its best figures in history with 20.3 million users. These impressive numbers represent an 11.36% increase from 2023, marking a rise of 2,074,941 users year-on-year, setting a new record for the service in its 37-year history.

Every day, more than 55,000 people on average use this mode of transport to travel across the province, amounting to a monthly average of 1,695,228 journeys.

According to FGV figures, during the Hogueras festivities, Alicante residents used this transport the most. In 2024, the busiest day was June 22, with 115,670 passengers, followed by June 23 with 113,270, and June 21 with 103,972 customers. These three dates were the only ones to surpass 100,000 daily users.

In the entire Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) network, the journeys made last year between TRAM d'Alacant (20,342,744) and Metrovalencia (91,191,013) reached 111,533,757 movements, a 2.55% increase from the previous year, indicating a rise of 2,773,438 trips compared to the previous year.

Leader, Line 2

By lines, in 2024, the most used was Line 2, connecting Luceros with San Vicent del Raspeig, used by 8,187,254 travellers; followed by Line 1, linking Luceros and Benidorm, with 4,207,050; Line 3, connecting Luceros with El Campello, with 3,283,776; Line 4, linking Luceros with Plaza La Coruña, with 2,372,870; Line 5, connecting Porta del Mar and Plaza La Coruña, with 1,162,324; and Line 9, running between Benidorm and Dénia, with 1,129,470 passengers.

Luceros, Main Station

In terms of station traffic, Luceros once again topped the ranking with 3,529,622 travellers. It was followed by Mercado with 2,721,829, and Benidorm in third place with 1,425,501.

In fourth place was Marq-Castillo with 1,244,484; fifth was Sant Vicent del Raspeig, recording 1,100,735 movements; sixth was El Campello station with 627,422; seventh was Pintor Gastón Castelló with 598,602; eighth was Bulevar del Pla with 598,385; ninth was Garbinet with 564,460; and in tenth place was Hospital with 482,140 users.
