Environmental educators from the Elda City Council are preparing to commemorate World Recycling Day, which will take place on May 17th. In celebration of this event, informational points will be set up for citizens to receive guidance on proper waste separation at the source, along with the distribution of various domestic 'mini-containers' to help residents classify waste more conveniently.

The campaign begins this Tuesday, May 6th, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Central Market, where environmental educators will set up their information table to provide details about glass waste, distributing the specific green container for its use. The campaign will continue weekly at the Central Market throughout May, with information about the paper and cardboard container offered on Tuesday, May 13th; the light packaging container on May 20th; and organic waste on May 27th, all from 10 am to 1 pm, according to municipal sources.

Information Table

Similarly, starting in June, information points will be set up at the San Francisco de Sales market. The organic waste information table is scheduled for June 3rd; glass waste information on June 10th; paper and cardboard on June 17th; and the yellow containers for light packaging on Tuesday, June 24th.

The "great public reception to the distribution of organic 'mini-containers'" has enabled this initiative, where Elda City Council's environmental educators will provide more precise and detailed information by dedicating a specific day to each waste fraction. This aims to improve public attention and provide details on how to separate and use all existing containers in public spaces for proper source separation.

During these months, environmental educators will also continue their door-to-door campaign for organic waste, this time in the neighborhoods of Estación, Casco Antiguo, and Plaza Mayor.

Additionally, information will be provided on how to use the free bulky waste collection service by appointment, by calling 965 395 221.
