Renowned singer Raphael has been diagnosed with a brain lymphoma and is currently undergoing treatment, according to a medical report from the University Hospital 12 de Octubre where he is admitted. The report, initially disclosed by the EFE agency, states that he is "receiving specific treatment" and may "be discharged in the coming days."
Rafael Martos, the singer's real name, aged 81, is hospitalized in the same medical center where he underwent a liver transplant two decades ago. He was transferred there last Wednesday, the 18th, from the Clínico San Carlos Hospital in Madrid, where he was initially taken after suffering what was described as "a cerebrovascular accident" during the recording of the Christmas special of 'La Revuelta' in a Madrid theatre.
Doctors conducted tests over the past week to arrive at the new diagnosis. The report indicates that Raphael "has a primary brain lymphoma with two cerebral nodules in the left hemisphere, explaining the neurological symptoms he experienced recently."
"During his stay at this hospital, specific treatment for this condition has commenced and will continue on an outpatient basis," the document adds. "For this reason, he is expected to be discharged in the coming days," the medical report concludes. His representatives later detailed that the singer's medical team has recommended a prolonged period of rest and recuperation during the treatment.
During his hospital stay, the singer has been visited by his family, including his wife Natalia Figueroa, his son Jacobo, who on Wednesday - Christmas Day - expressed hope that his father would be discharged by Friday, and his daughter Alejandra.
The singer had scheduled two concerts last weekend at the WiZink Center in Madrid on the 21st and 22nd, which he had to cancel, despite his family assuring that his condition was improving. On Thursday, his management office, RLM, announced the cancellation of the final leg of the Victoria 2025 tour. This includes concerts planned for early next year in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
