Basque businessman Juan Carlos Ramírez and a group of investors from Alcoy have reached a preliminary agreement for the majority shareholding of Alcoyano to pass into the hands of the latter, following the team's relegation to Segunda RFEF, marking a dramatic failure for a historic club that began the season aiming for promotion.

Initially, negotiations, which began some time ago, proposed that Ramírez would retain control of the club's sporting side, while the local investors' group would manage the institutional and youth academy aspects.

However, the relegation has opened the possibility for a complete change, with the first team "returning" to Alcoy after a season of training in La Nucía, a town from which most of the club's activities were generated. The sale of the majority shareholding could be finalised for around three million euros, one less than Ramírez had proposed before the relegation.

The local investors aim to bring back to the city a club that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2028, with Alcoy once again hosting not only matches but also training sessions and player residencies.

Meanwhile, Deportivo Eldense finds itself in a similar situation to Alcoyano, as following their relegation from Segunda División to Primera RFEF, owner Pascual Pérez has put the club up for sale, with negotiations appearing to be quite advanced.

Eldense has sought to send a message of hope and optimism to its fans through a letter, following their mathematical relegation after two exciting seasons in LaLiga Hypermotion, during which the fans have reawakened in the shoemaking city.

"With a heavy heart" and "a broken soul," the Alicante club addressed its fans to express that "it pains us to accept leaving LaLiga Hypermotion" but, from this pain, "we sincerely thank our season ticket holders for supporting this badge" throughout this journey in professional football.

The letter to the Deportivo community continued, recalling that "these have been two seasons among the 42 best teams in our country" and acknowledged that "we made mistakes, we erred, but we never failed to give our all with humility, courage, and the pride of representing Elda and the oldest club in the province of Alicante across Spain."
