No streets were swept away nor homes flooded, but the city was profoundly transformed. It was a silent flood of solidarity, born from the most human instinct: to help. In the hours following the devastating DANA that struck Valencia on 29 October 2024, leaving 228 fatalities, a torrent of volunteers turned La Rambleta into the epicentre of an exemplary citizen response. There, without plan or warning, a spontaneous aid network was born that exceeded all expectations.

The city awoke amidst mud and silence. Just hours later, La Rambleta became one of the areas witnessing human generosity. A group of people, driven solely by the urgency to act, arrived at the cultural centre's square with what they had: hands, energy, and empathy. Without structure, rules, resources, or waiting for instructions, only with the courage given by putting themselves in others' shoes, they improvised an operations centre that began in the square and quickly spread through the cultural space, welcoming thousands of anonymous volunteers.

Over the next eleven days, more than 21,000 volunteers passed through La Rambleta. There, 200,000 kilos of food, drink, and materials were unloaded. More than 350 vans and trucks from donors arrived. Over 20,000 meals were prepared and distributed to ground zero and another 19,000 rations for the volunteers, along with 3,600 pairs of boots, 2,800 shovels and rakes, and 19,000 nappies and baby bottles. With this solidarity network, more than 32,000 families were assisted, thanks to the coordinated effort of volunteers who, on foot, by bicycle, car, or van, reached where they were needed.

La Rambleta, witness and part of this extraordinary work, wanted to document those days. On 18 June, it presents 'Volunteers: the silent flood', an emotional documentary that captures, with an intimate and respectful gaze, the frantic days following the catastrophe. Through several protagonists, the film reconstructs a collective story of generosity, where help was organised outside institutions, driven by compassion and the strength of people.

This documentary is a testament to the generosity of neighbours, volunteers, companies, and organisations that, from the first moment, dedicated themselves to contributing what they could to help.

An audiovisual tribute showing how, without being called, thousands of strangers became one, sharing the same impulse: to help and alleviate the pain of those who had lost everything.

Thanks to this silent flood, the roar of disaster was accompanied by a current of humanity. Voices that embraced, extended a hand, consoled, and supported. Voices of hope.

This documentary is in gratitude to those who made the impossible possible. A living example of that humanity with a capital H in which we like to continue believing.

The premiere of 'Volunteers: the silent flood' will take place on 18 June and will be screened simultaneously in the Rambleta theatre, the RAM Club, and the very square where it all began. Access is free, by downloading an invitation through the Rambleta website. After the screening, the public is invited to a gathering in the square, a collective toast to memory, gratitude, and the strength of a community that rose to the occasion.
