The province of Alicante is preparing for a rainy weekend

. This is announced by the State Meteorological Agency on its website. The capital will start Friday with overcast skies and it won't be until the afternoon when the clouds will unload.

The public body estimates an 80% chance of rain and storms from 6 p.m., although the people of Alicante are already familiar with the false alarms of rain in 'la terreta'. It seems like a lot but then nothing happens. As for temperatures, highs of 24 degrees and lows of 15 are expected.

Saturday looks better in the city of Alicante, according to the Aemet forecast, which indicates that the rains will start the day but then the sun will come out and the day will remain cloudless. The mercury will drop compared to Friday. Highs and lows will drop by one degree. The wind will also be a protagonist, with gusts of up to 30 km/h from the west throughout the day.

Sunday will be more loaded with rain and the wind will continue, although more gently (it will not exceed 20 km/h). The State Meteorological Agency forecasts storms and a high probability of rain throughout Sunday.

DANA for next week

In addition to tomorrow's rain, we must not lose sight of the DANA that will form this weekend over the Peninsula. The climatology laboratory of the University of Alicante provides the keys to the possible cold drop.

According to them, being so close to its center on Saturday and Sunday, at first there will only be scattered showers and cooler weather, but at the beginning of next week the situation could be very adverse or dangerous in some areas of the Mediterranean coast, with possible floods if the current scenario persists, as the center of the cold drop will move towards the Gulf of Cádiz and the east winds will arrive.

Furthermore, they point out that there is considerable uncertainty about the trajectory of this DANA. As of today, the heaviest rain is expected between the Comunitat and the south of Catalonia, but it would also be widespread across the Alicante regions. Likewise, the distribution of the expected accumulations will vary in the coming days.

The UA clarifies that this phenomenon is not synonymous with torrential rains, which only occur if a series of circumstances arise, something that this time "seems to be happening".
