Public Policies on Addictions Under Debate in Alicante

On Thursday, May 15, the Provincial Council of Alicante will resume the Health Promotion Meeting Cycle with a second session dedicated to addressing 'New Challenges for Prevention in Our Province'. This new event, hosted at the MARQ, is primarily aimed at political and technical personnel from local entities to create spaces for reflection on the development of public policies for addiction prevention and mental health improvement, especially in the educational field.

"Through this initiative, we aim to improve the professional skills of those who direct, coordinate, or promote programs and services in this field, and also to raise awareness among teams, both from public entities and private companies, to incorporate the perspective of mental health improvement and addiction prevention into their processes," stated the deputy responsible for the area, Loreto Serrano.

The session will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will address the importance of implementing adequate and effective prevention in the educational field with preventive programs that have sufficient scientific evidence and the equality needed to address any disease.

A new meeting of this cycle will be held in the last quarter of this year, which includes three more sessions until 2027 on topics such as healthcare, the community field, mental health, or education for health promotion and addiction prevention.
