The spokesperson for the PSPV-PSOE management committee in Alicante, José Díaz, and the spokesperson for the Provincial Executive of the PSPV-PSOE, and spokesperson in the Torrevieja City Council, Bárbara Soler, held a press conference this Tuesday morning to denounce the 'systematic dismantling of public investments' in the province of Alicante by the current Consell led by Carlos Mazón, as well as the 'partisan instrumentalisation' of Alberto Núñez Feijóo's visit, leader of the PP, to the city.

Both spokespersons have critically assessed the regional budget in the province, labelling it as a 'deliberate attack' on public services and the most urgent needs of the territory. 'Since Mazón has been in power, we have seen a reduction of 200 million euros in investments compared to the last Botànic Government, only 70 million in these budgets,' José Díaz denounced. 'And it's not because they have been redirected to the DANA, because from the Generalitat Valenciana's own resources, the PP has not contributed a single euro.'

Díaz emphasised that Carlos Mazón has chosen to abandon Alicante, despite boasting of his Alicante roots: 'Our neighbourhoods are still waiting for basic facilities. Education, health, transport... For example, in Playa de San Juan, we still have a wasteland instead of a health centre. They budgeted 1.2 million in 2024 and executed less than 80,000 euros. For 2025, they have allocated only 100,000. A bad joke.'

Furthermore, he criticised that 'when it is convenient, there is money. For those who matter, there is always funding,' referring to the allocation of 1.5 million for the Chamber of Commerce, a project riddled with irregularities and which remained unexecuted last year. 'This is the model of Ventorro and his pact with Vox: budgets serving a few,' he concluded.

Meanwhile, Bárbara Soler accused the PP of 'thriving on confrontation and polarisation, selling management when all they have is marketing.' According to Soler, 'the excuse that there is no money does not hold: 1,000 million have been forgiven to the highest incomes, 14 million in fees to energy companies, and they have voted against debt forgiveness. What exists are priorities, and education, health, and public services are not among them.'

The PSPV-PSOE also criticised the meal organised in Alicante with the participation of Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Carlos Mazón, labelling it as a 'political propaganda act and internal shielding' amid increasingly questioned management by the public.

'It is indecent that with 228 victims from the DANA still without answers and with the province suffering widespread cuts, Mazón hides behind a partisan feast to seek political oxygen,' stated Bárbara Soler. 'Instead of providing public explanations, Mazón shelters with Feijóo in a closed event, without press, without self-criticism, and without commitment to Alicante.'

José Díaz pointed out that 'the PP wants to appear as if there is institutional normality which no longer exists,' and added that 'Feijóo's visit is another gesture of complicity with the Consell's cuts and a total lack of respect for the Valencian people demanding answers.'

Both spokespersons agreed on the loss of institutional legitimacy of the current Consell and reiterated the PSPV-PSOE's demand for a call for elections. 'This land deserves a government that matches its people, not one entrenched in lies, favours, and ideological trenches,' concluded Díaz.
