Francisco Cano, the Deputy for Emergencies of the Alicante Provincial Council, has denied that there are any staff cuts or implementation of minimum services in the Operational Service of the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium.
"Our goal is to manage resources rationally and responsibly, always complying with current laws and regulations," Francisco Cano stated. He assured that, since there are no cuts or reductions, "the service is not and will not be affected, and we will continue to provide assistance to our municipalities with the same levels of quality, effectiveness, and efficiency."
As the deputy specified, from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium "we maintain our commitment to the continuous improvement of the working conditions of the staff and also maintain dialogue with union representatives."
Francisco Cano also highlighted the effort made by the Provincial Firefighters Consortium to pay the overtime owed to its workers, within the framework of ongoing union negotiations. In this regard, he reported that a contribution of 1.2 million euros has already been made, which represents 75% of the total outstanding amount.
In addition to fulfilling payments, "we have intensified our efforts to reduce overtime, considering it a management anomaly, with the aim of making this debt reduction truly effective," he pointed out.
The management carried out by the CPBA between January 1 and March 20, 2025, has generated savings of over 100,000 euros compared to the same period last year.
"We have decided to temporarily suspend all actions related to swaps, staff transfers between areas, and substitutions by management, keeping the operational staff. This decision, which demonstrates our good negotiating will, will remain until the conclusion of the open negotiation process in which we are immersed," insisted the Deputy for Emergencies.
From next April, the incorporation of 30 more newly recruited firefighters is expected, "which demonstrates the effort and expansion of the Consortium's workforce in the face of accusations of cuts," he concluded.
