With Black Friday just around the corner, large and small companies are already making moves for the so-called 'Black Friday', which marks the start of the Christmas campaign and one of the best times for consumption.

This year, the American tradition is expected to succeed in the province and drive a large number of purchases. According to forecasts by Randstad, almost 11% more contracts will be signed for Black Friday and Cyber Monday compared to the same period last year.

This amounts to about 4,050 new jobs, compared to the 3,655 created in 2023, making it the second province in the Community, behind Valencia, where twice as many people will be hired as in Alicante. In total, nearly 14,000 contracts are expected to be signed across the autonomous territory during this massive consumption campaign, giving a significant boost to job creation.

After months of high season with record numbers of Social Security affiliates, the labor market will regain strength with Black Friday and the subsequent Christmas campaign. A period in which companies are optimistic with the drop in interest rates and inflation, hoping that consumption will be reactivated.

To meet the high demand, companies are forced to increase their staff. Sectors such as commerce, logistics, and transport will be the main job seekers in the province of Alicante and in Spain.

The regional director of Temporary Work for the South-Levante area at Randstad has highlighted that with the arrival of the so-called 'Black Friday', "one of the most important seasons of the year for commerce and logistics begins." Hervás emphasizes that the period marks the start of Christmas shopping and "represents a key opportunity for economic growth, job creation, and increased sales for many companies across all sectors."

Demanded profiles

Regarding company demand for these periods, logistics companies will seek packers, forklift operators, warehouse workers, and transporters to meet the high demand expected in the massive consumption campaign.

Additionally, professionals for customer service in the e-commerce aspect will also be sought. Meanwhile, commerce will strengthen its staff with sales assistants, hosts, and commercial profiles, valuing customer service. Both for the logistics sector and for retail, companies increasingly value candidates with digital skills and knowledge of platforms as a result of the increase in e-commerce.
