The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has confirmed that the cold spell known as the 'Beast from the East' will not reach the province of Alicante. The air mass will not arrive with its full force and "will not affect us directly," Aemet explains.
This Friday, temperatures are expected to drop to below zero. In fact, this morning, towns like Villena recorded lows of -7 degrees, according to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet).
❄️ A cold air mass will cause heavy snowfalls in the northern mountains on Friday. It will also snow in the Central system and could do so in areas of the northern plateau.

It is expected that from the weekend onwards, minimum temperatures will rise, with changes from negative to positive in the lowest temperatures. Aemet forecasts also indicate rain from 6 pm, potentially bringing snow to the peaks of the province, as happened a few weeks ago in the Aitana mountain range.
Aemet warns that this Saturday "there will be intense frosts in mountain areas," although they emphasise that "no 'Beast from the East' is arriving; it is a winter situation without extraordinary features. In fact, the agency deactivated the yellow alert for low temperatures of up to -4 degrees throughout Thursday.
¡#HappyFriday! You know that tonight, at the last minute, a weakened Atlantic front will reach the southeast of the #IberianPeninsula, leaving behind light precipitation in general, with snow in the mountains at 1300-1400 m. The cold air mass, which will be felt on Friday night, arrives weakened. MeteOrihuela explains that this Atlantic front "will arrive weakened, leaving light precipitation in general and snow in the highest mountains of Alicante, especially in the northern interior of the region.
Looking ahead to next week, Aemet forecasts a few days of "anticyclonic weather" and it is likely that from February 10 to 16, the peninsula will be under the effects "of passing Atlantic storms, which would bring warm and humid winds."
These phenomena will cause temperatures to reach "values higher than usual for this time of year across the territory, while precipitation will also be more abundant than normal in most of the Peninsula."
