On Sunday, marking two months since the storm that claimed 223 lives in the province of Valencia, dozens took to the streets of Alicante demanding the resignation of Carlos Mazón as President of the Valencian Government.
The protest was scheduled for 6 PM outside Casa de les Bruixes (the Consell's headquarters in Alicante) and was organized by around thirty entities, including parties like Sumar, Compromís, and Podemos; unions such as CCOO l'Alacantí-Les Marines, Intersindical Valencia; and associations like Acció Cultural del País Valencià and Casal Popular del Tio Cuc d'Alacant.
"We are still mourning the over two hundred people who died and those still missing, and we remain angry because we know who is responsible for the tragedy: Carlos Mazón and his council," the protesters declared, accusing the Valencian government of "not serving the citizens but the interests of capital."
They also criticized the State Government, "which should have immediately and forcefully pressured the Valencian Government for its inaction to intervene with all available resources and help citizens rebuild their lives during the initial weeks."
Two months after the tragedy, they denounced ongoing issues for "volunteers and affected individuals, who face health risks that could lead to a sanitary emergency. Also, for those engaged in inspection and reconstruction work, risking their lives, like the worker who died on November 24 while cleaning a school in Massanassa."

"Affected individuals are caught in a bureaucratic whirlwind and endless queues that prevent real access to resources (...) In this situation, the militarization of the Generalitat government is unacceptable, using technical arguments as a pretext, while the council awards million-dollar contracts to companies linked to corruption cases."
The protesters also highlighted a series of demands, including Mazón's resignation and the initiation of legal proceedings to determine responsibility; providing housing alternatives for those affected; strengthening public transport; banning construction in flood-prone areas; and ensuring workers included in temporary layoffs due to the storm receive 100% of their base salary and have access to reduced working hours without salary reduction.
