The PP's political proposal has included three amendments proposed by the party's regional branch. The national congress, taking place this weekend, has approved the requests, which mainly focus on reconstruction following the storm on October 29.
Thus, the Popular Party has agreed to include these proposals in its document concerning financing, in hydraulic matters and taxation. All with the aim of "addressing the needs of Valencians."
The first approved amendment addresses regional financing, where it has been incorporated to guarantee the Regional Liquidity Fund until a new financing model is approved in Spain.
The second amendment states that hydraulic infrastructures "should be a priority, especially to prevent and protect" people from events and phenomena like the floods that "we have recently suffered" in the region.
The third amendment proposes exempting the collection of taxes and interest on aid received by those affected in a natural disaster.
The coordinator of the PPCV's political proposal at the national congress, César Sánchez, explained that this document "sets the essential principles for the next four years." With these amendments, "the PP shows special sensitivity towards our land."
Regarding them, Sánchez emphasised that they "directly affect the FLA we need, the necessary infrastructures to prevent another catastrophe, and ensuring that taxes are not charged on aid and with the VAT collection from people affected by the storm. They need direct aid, without interest, without paying taxes."
Furthermore, he pointed out that "the time of harming and mistreating Valencians by Pedro Sánchez is over," accusing the Government of making "political calculations with our land." In this regard, he highlights the "lack of sensitivity" of the socialist leader, thus calling for general elections.
