The Union of Associations of Industrial Technical Engineers and Graduates in Industrial Engineering of Spain (Uaitie) announced last Friday, May 30, the winners of its tenth edition of the National Award for Initiation to Technological Research in its three categories: ESO, Baccalaureate, and CFGS.
The winning project in the Baccalaureate category, developed by students from the aforementioned IES and coordinated by their technology teacher, Sonia García, involved the development of a sound-alert bracelet that detects loud noises and alerts the wearer through vibrations and LED lights.
This practical tool contributes to the inclusion and safety of people with hearing or visual disabilities. With this smart bracelet, they can be alerted, for example, to emergency sounds or cries for help in urban spaces.
As recognition of young talent, the team of students will receive a prize of 1,000 euros, and an additional 500 euros will be awarded to the educational centre to invest in improving its technological classrooms. The award ceremony will take place in Madrid on June 17.
