"The break in the pact is firm," stated Mario Ortolá, deputy spokesperson for Vox in the Alicante City Council. The four councillors are resetting the counter and hope to sit down and negotiate with the mayor, the popular Luis Barcala, regarding 21 points to approve the municipal financial plan and continue the legislature as it has functioned in its first part.
These 21 points are divided into two parts: an economic one, with a saving of 2.3 million euros, already submitted to municipal technicians; and a political one. It is unclear which of the two is more challenging to implement.
The measures are very difficult for any leader to accept. Although Vox boasts that they have already achieved this with the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, with the approval of the 2025 budgets. In fact, they demand that, as the head of the Consell did, the mayor announces all these measures in a press conference.
In this public appearance, Barcala must renounce the European Green Deal and make a "public warning about the increase in insecurity in Alicante as a result of the open policies of the Spanish Government regarding illegal immigration."
Among the policies is the elimination of cemetery niches specifically for Muslims, something already agreed upon in Elche. But it is not the only one. Vox wants to authorize all cultural programming in Alicante before it is published, as well as the subsidies and agreements signed by the City Council. All this without joining the government team.
Vox spokesperson Carmen Robledillo denounces a concert at Las Cigarreras last Thursday where "women were insulted," specifically Esperanza Aguirre, and "business was made" with the sale of t-shirts and 'merchandising'.
Vox does not stop there. They directly attack the figure of the Finance Councillor, Toni Gallego. The four councillors want his dismissal or, in any case, that his finance responsibilities be removed "and to have knowledge of all the files in the Sports area" for two years.
"The PP has breached the budgetary pact and deceived the people of Alicante," stated Vox spokesperson in the City Council, Carmen Robledillo. "The disastrous management should not be paid for by the people of Alicante," she concluded.
Vox knows they have all the power. If an adjustment plan is not approved, the State would "intervene" in the Alicante City Council due to a deviation of 29 million euros in the spending rule. They know this, which is why they pressure the government team so much, believing that the PP has no other option.
These are the rest of Vox's proposals:
Closure of the centres for minors and wards in the city. A request that the Alicante City Council must make to the Valencian Generalitat.
Closure of the Housing, Nursery Schools, and Youth Council boards.
Elimination of subsidies and representation of unions wherever higher laws allow.
Elimination of Indalencio Prieto Street.
Review of the expansion of the 'blue zone'.
Modification of the ZAS.
Extension of the closing hours of establishments, i.e., modification of the Public Road Ordinance.
Priority for Spaniards in the granting of municipal emergency aid.
Administrative simplification ordinance.
Processing in Les Corts of Alicante as a Spanish-speaking municipality.
Prohibition of the use of loudspeakers in public spaces in the city of Alicante until 9 in the morning.
All this on account of the celebration of the lamb festival held this weekend in Lo Morant, "which caused inconvenience to the neighbours," Ortolá denounced.
