Proclamation of the Hogueras 2025 in Alicante: schedules, route, and novelties

Alicante kicks off June with the traditional firecracker that marks the start of the Hogueras 2025. This Friday, 6th June, the Bellea del Foc, Adriana Vico, and the children's Bellea, Valentina Tárraga, will deliver the famous phrase: 'Ja estem en Fogueres' in the Town Hall square. Designer Rubén Hernández will be responsible for delivering the proclamation of the city's official festivities.

Friday is packed with events as it marks the first day of the Hogueras 2025 in Alicante. The festive agenda begins at 18:30 with the event 'Música per a una Festa', gathering several bands near the ADDA to perform traditional pieces. This year, the concert will start with 'Josep Amand Tomàs', dedicated to the president of Sèneca-Autobusos and Fogueres Especials d'Alacant for his 50 years as a foguerer.

At 19:00, the Plaza de España will host one of the day's most emotional events: the tribute to the deceased foguerer and barraquer. Representatives from the commissions will gather to remember those who are no longer with us, just before the main days of the festival begin.

After this heartfelt moment, the proclamation parade will begin, linking Plaza de España with the Town Hall Square. The Belleas, ladies of honour, banners, and commission presidents will parade through the city centre for the first time in the Hogueras 2025, wearing festive attire and welcoming the main days.

Although the proclamation parade kicks off the Hogueras, its route does not follow the official course. The commissions will march through San Vicente, Rambla de Méndez Núñez, and Rafael Altamira streets, from Plaza de España to Town Hall Square.

At 21:00, designer Rubén Hernández will officially welcome the Hogueras. The costume designer has been chosen as the herald due to his connection with festive tailoring, which led him to open his first establishment dedicated to traditional attire 25 years ago.

It will be right after the proclamation when the Belleas del Foc will officially kick off the Hogueras 2025 in Alicante with the shout: "Ja estem en Fogueres".

This year, the event presents significant changes. The poor condition of the Alicante Town Hall balcony has forced a modification of the traditional format, as happened on Easter Sunday. The Town Hall has suffered damage and is undergoing structural analysis. For safety reasons, the proclamation will be held on a stage set up in the same Town Hall square.

After listening to Rubén Hernández's words praising the Fiesta, the foguerers will move to Pier 12 of the Port to celebrate the traditional Proclamation Party, which will feature a night-time mascletà.

The weekend will continue with a packed festive agenda. On Saturday, 7th June, the ninots will take over the main streets of Alicante with their traditional parade. The parade will start at 19:00, with the commissions of hogueras and barracas following the official route.

Two mascletàs from the 'Pòlvora tot l'any' cycle will continue the festive agenda of the Hogueras of Alicante. The one on Sunday, 8th June, will take place near the Puerta de Alicante shopping centre, and the one on Saturday, 14th June, at the roundabout of the Gran Vía shopping centre. The latter is out of competition and will be handled by the Hermanos Sirvent pyrotechnics.

In the afternoon, another grand parade will take place, anticipating the essence of the main days of June: the Entry of bands and commissions of the Hogueras of Alicante. All of them will depart from Plaza de los Luceros at 18:30, heading to Town Hall Square via the official route.
