Los Mossos d'Esquadra are currently searching for an inmate from Mas d'Enric prison in El Catllar (Tarragona) who escaped on Thursday during a scheduled outing. The prisoner took advantage of a planned visit to a therapeutic centre in Els Pallaresos to make his escape.

According to initial reports, the prisoner, who is serving a 12-year sentence for robbery and was due for release in late 2029, requested permission to go outside to smoke at the therapeutic centre he was visiting and used the opportunity to flee, as reported by 'Diari de Tarragona'.

It appears this was not the first time he attempted to escape from prison. In fact, the purpose of the visit to the therapeutic centre was to aid the inmate's reintegration. The Mossos d'Esquadra have launched a search operation to locate the fugitive.
