Prince William's former assistant, Jason Knauf, has disclosed details about Kate Middleton's decision to delay announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier last year. In an interview with '60 Minutes Australia', Knauf described a "horrible" phone conversation with the prince shortly after learning of the Princess of Wales's diagnosis. According to him, the royal couple decided to keep the illness private until they had properly informed their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. This decision was based on the need to prepare the children to understand the situation appropriately and explain that their mother would receive the necessary treatment.
Additionally, during this period, Prince William took on a crucial role in caring for his family, balancing his official duties with constant support for his wife and children. "In a couple of weeks, you find out both your wife and father have cancer. I couldn't believe it. It was horrible, absolutely horrible. I had never seen him so bad," Knauf recalled. This experience has once again highlighted the importance the Princes of Wales place on family unity and well-being, prioritising their children's emotional stability before publicly sharing such delicate news.
Kate announced her diagnosis in March 2024 and later, in January 2025, communicated that she was in remission. Meanwhile, King Charles continues with his treatment following his own cancer diagnosis.
