For the past five years, various disagreements between Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, and the British royal family have come to light. The differences with his paternal family led the Duke of Sussex to distance himself and abandon his royal duties, thus beginning a new life in the United States. Not even the cancer diagnoses of his father, King Charles III, and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, have facilitated a rapprochement. What had not been revealed until now is that Diana of Wales's youngest son considered adopting his mother's maiden name and ceasing to be a Windsor to become a Spencer.
This was disclosed by the 'Daily Mail', which explained how Harry had inquired about the possibility of changing the Mountbatten-Windsor surname to Spencer. It was his uncle Charles, Earl Spencer, who tried to dissuade him from the idea. "They had a very friendly conversation, and he advised him not to take that step," the British media reported. In any case, it seems that bureaucratic hurdles were the real reason the Duke of Sussex did not take the definitive step. This revelation adds another obstacle to a possible reconciliation between Harry and his paternal family.
