The President of Alicante Veterinarians Aims to Lead the National Organization

Gonzalo Moreno del Val aspires to hold the presidency of the Veterinary Collegiate Organization (OCV). Del Val is currently the president of the Alicante Veterinary College and holds the vice-presidency of the OCV, an organization that brings together all the territorial colleges in Spain. Alongside him, Álvaro Mateos, president of the Bizkaia Veterinary College, is also running for election.

The elections to choose the new president will be held on July 26 from 10 am to 6 pm at the collegiate entity's headquarters in Madrid. In the Alicante candidate's team, María-Luisa Fernández Miguel, current president of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife College, is running for vice-president; and Héctor Palatsi Martínez, president of the Teruel College, is running for secretary general.

Gonzalo Moreno graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Cardenal Herrera University in 2005. A career civil servant, specialist in Animal Health and Welfare at the Spanish National Research Council, he is the director of the Animal Facility Service and secretary of the Bioethics and Biosafety Committee at the Institute of Neurosciences in Alicante.

He is also a specialist in Reproductive Biology from the Miguel Hernández University (UMH). He holds a Master's in Occupational Risk Prevention from the Financial Studies Center and a Master's in Clinical Medicine Research from the UMH. Since 2017, he has presided over the Alicante Veterinary College and, since 2023, he has been the vice-president of the OCV.
