Beatriz Gascó, the spokesperson for Education of the GPP in Les Corts, expressed regret that Compromís is using 'confrontation' to gain political advantage during such delicate times for Valencian society. She stated that 'what people need from politicians are actions that provide them with certainty and a plan of action that ensures solutions in the immediate future'.

Gascó emphasized that from the outset, the entire team at the Department of Education 'began visiting the centres affected by the flood to assess the damage caused, and since then, they have been working tirelessly, even on weekends, to ensure that all students can return to their classes as quickly as possible'. In this regard, around 32,000 students have already resumed their educational activities in over 80 centres that have returned to normalcy.

One of the top priorities of the Consell 'is the cleaning and reconstruction of educational centres' so that all children can return to school as soon as possible. 'This was the directive given by the president, and the minister is working tirelessly to achieve it'.

The popular deputy also wanted to thank the entire educational community 'for the effort they have made, like the rest of Valencian society, collaborating in their centres and municipalities to restore normalcy as soon as possible'.

Beatriz Gascó emphasized that 'these are very difficult times, with a lot of work and exhaustion, and I would ask for the greatest possible unity and responsibility from the opposition because people have already suffered enough'. 'The Law of Educational Freedom is a regulation born from the popular will of the Valencians in Les Corts', she added.

Constitutional Challenge

Regarding the Constitutional Court's acceptance of the challenge presented by Compromís against the Law of Educational Freedom implemented by the Consell, Gascó stated that 'it is a personal attack by demanding the resignation of Minister Rovira' since 'this regulation is born from the popular will of the Valencians through Les Corts, who were tired of linguistic imposition'.

The spokesperson for Education in Les Corts Valencianes also recalled that this law is currently under negotiation with the Spanish Government through a bilateral commission. However, 'Compromís has preferred to align with Sumar, Podemos, Bildu, ERC, Junts, and BNG, the parties that want to break Spain, to have their moment of glory and gain prominence, caring little about education'.

Gascó defended that 'the Law of Educational Freedom aims to replace imposition with promotion'. Therefore, it is curious that 'the political party that has received firm judgments for taking away freedoms from families comes to demand resignations for precisely wanting to return the possibility of choice to them'.

From the PPCV, 'if there is one thing we do, it is to respect the courts and justice, unlike them, who, along with the party they support in Madrid, attempt to discredit the Constitutional Court with a progressive majority that has endorsed controversial laws such as the Celáa Law, the Euthanasia Law, or the Rider Law'. Furthermore, 'it should not be forgotten that Compromís has been the party that obtained the most adverse judgments for taking away freedoms from families and then failed to comply with those judgments. When asked about this, their Education Minister responded in the plenary of Les Corts that judges knew a lot about laws but not about education', so 'they are not in a position to give lessons'.

Beatriz Gascó wanted to emphasize that the main objective of the law is precisely to promote Valencian so that students complete their education knowing both official languages 'without impositions, without linguistic blackmail, and without sectarianism, to remove ideology from classrooms with learning of both languages based strictly on pedagogical parameters detached from partisan issues'.
