The Espanyol-Valencia and Tenerife-Levante matches scheduled for the weekend were postponed this Wednesday by the sole judge of professional competitions of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) following the request made by LaLiga, at the behest of the clubs involved. For the second consecutive matchday, professional football matches affecting Valencia teams have been suspended due to 'force majeure', although the previous week also saw the postponement of matches for other clubs in the region devastated by the DANA: Villarreal, Castellón, and Eldense.

'The sole judge of professional competitions, like the FEF, is not unaware of the situation of extreme necessity, urgency, anguish, and distress experienced in the region, and therefore proceeds to grant the requests for suspension and/or postponement made,' justified José Alberto Peláez in his resolution. The head of professional competitions of the federative body confirmed that the date for the Espanyol-Valencia and Tenerife-Levante matches will be determined 'once the opinions of the interested parties and LaLiga have been heard.'

Valencia and Levante formally requested LaLiga to postpone their matches corresponding to the 13th and 14th matchdays of the League in the First and Second Divisions, respectively, and the club association forwarded this request to the FEF. The Valencia club requested the suspension of their match in Cornellà 'due to the dramatic consequences suffered and being suffered by the province of Valencia as a result of the DANA, which has flooded roads, entire towns, and communication routes, with players and workers directly affected by it, isolated in their localities.' Levante expressed similar terms regarding the consequences, 'both in the personal sphere due to the victims of this tragedy, and materially due to all the damage this situation has caused.'
