The high season for cruises at the Port of Alicante has kicked off with a bang. A record-breaking 2025 is expected, surpassing the figures of 2024, which saw over 235,000 passengers and 100 cruise calls, generating an impact of 60 million euros.

The month of April starts strong with 14 calls, half of them during Easter. According to the Port Authority's forecasts, seven ships will dock at the Port of Alicante between April 12 and 20, the peak period of the festivities.

More than 15,000 cruise passengers will disembark from a diverse range of ships. The Port of Alicante will host everything from exclusive ships with a few hundred passengers to a mega cruise ship, the Aida, with over 5,000 cruise passengers.

The first ship to arrive in Alicante is the Costa Pacifica, docking at 11 a.m. and staying until 7 p.m. Onboard are about 3,780 cruise passengers. Two days later, the Seabourn Sojourn, a luxury cruise that was the first ship of 2025 to arrive in Alicante last March, will return. It will dock at eight in the morning. The ultra-luxury cruise offers extensive services up to 20,000 euros, including a personal butler in the cabin.

On the 15th, another smaller cruise ship, the Explora II, with about 900 cruise passengers, will be seen. It is one of the luxury segment ships of the MSC line, which will open its embarkation port in Alicante in April. On the eve of Maundy Thursday, the Port of Alicante will receive another large cruise ship, with 3,560 cruise passengers.

Maundy Thursday will see the Spirit of Adventure, from Saga Cruises, docking at 8 a.m. with 987 cruise passengers on board. Holy Saturday will be the turn of the Club Med 2, another ultra-luxury cruise. It is the largest sailing ship in the world, with five masts and 386 passengers on board.

This series of Easter cruises will conclude with the Aida Cosma, a mega cruise ship with 5,200 passengers, docking at the Alicante dock at 8 a.m. It is a large ship weighing 184,000 tons and 337 meters long. After the Aida, five more cruise ships will arrive, completing the offer of the second month that will receive the most ships.

Miami Fair

The Port of Alicante continues to seek new shipping lines to complete its offer and increase the cruises that have their embarkation port in the Alicante dock. Currently, only the MSC line has a cruise ship operating a route from Alicante. This is the Port Authority's major bet for 2025.

This has mainly been the shipping line's objective at the Seatrade Cruise Global fair in Miami, the world's most important cruise sector event.
