Porsche continues to refine its legendary 911 with the introduction of three new models that promise to double the available all-wheel drive options.
The star is the brand-new 911 Carrera 4S, arriving in Coupé, Cabriolet, and Targa 4S versions, strategically positioned below the powerful GTS models. This launch not only expands the range to a total of six all-wheel drive variants but also underscores Porsche's commitment to safety and performance in any weather condition.
The heart of these new additions is a thoroughly revised 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine, now delivering 353 kW (480 PS). This marks an increase of 22 kW (30 PS) over its predecessors, thanks in part to an optimized intercooler system, directly inherited from the 911 Turbo.
Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), allowing the 911 Carrera 4S Coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 3.3 seconds (with Sport Chrono package) and reach a top speed of 308 km/h.

The choice of all-wheel drive is a constant for approximately half of the customers opting for the 911 S variants, and for good reason. The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system ensures exceptional traction and greater stability, especially in adverse weather conditions or challenging roads.
Although the design of these models prioritizes rear-axle-oriented driving dynamics, the PTM can transfer torque to the front axle when necessary. The elegant body of the 911 Targa is exclusively available with all-wheel drive, solidifying its position as a year-round safe convertible.

Interestingly, the launch of the new variants coincides with the 60th anniversary of the 911 Targa, a model with a fascinating history. Introduced in 1965 as a response to safety concerns of convertibles in the US market, it was dubbed the "safety cabriolet" and its distinctive wide roll bar was inspired by motorsport.
Over time, the Targa evolved from a manually removable roof to fully automatic mechanisms that, in just 19 seconds, transform the coupé into a convertible, always maintaining the essence and design that evoke the original model.

The new 911 Carrera 4S variants not only stand out for their performance but also for significantly improved standard equipment. They include updated design 20/21-inch Carrera S wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), and a sports exhaust system that ensures the characteristic 911 sound. The braking system, inherited from the GTS models, features red calipers and large discs (408 mm front and 380 mm rear).

Additionally, the 911 Targa 4S incorporates rear-axle steering as standard. Inside, these all-wheel-drive sports cars offer a leather package, Matrix LED headlights, and wireless smartphone charging as standard. The equipment is completed with electrically folding exterior mirrors, the Light Design Package, automatic anti-dazzle mirrors with integrated rain sensor, and lane change warning. Porsche maintains its vast range of customization options, allowing customers to configure their 911 to their liking with an endless combination of colors, materials, and assistance systems.
With this expansion of the 911 range and the dual homage to all-wheel drive and the iconic Targa, Porsche not only celebrates six decades of innovative design but also reaffirms its commitment to constant evolution, offering sports car enthusiasts an unparalleled combination of excitement, performance, and safety on the road.
