Pope Francis continues his recovery process at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The pontiff was admitted last Friday to the hospital complex to be treated for a respiratory infection and spent a "quiet night" this Sunday, according to the Italian news agency ANSA, citing sources close to the hospital.
Despite his improvement, Vatican sources indicate that Francis I will remain hospitalized "as long as his treatment requires," so he is not expected to be discharged until midweek, according to the transalpine news agency.
"Thank you for the affection, prayer, and closeness with which you accompany me these days," Pope Francis wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday. The Pope was unable to deliver his usual prayer to pilgrims in St. Peter's Square on Sunday, nor to lead a special mass for artists on the occasion of the Catholic Church's jubilee year.
Os agradezco el cariño, la oración y la cercanía con la que me estáis acompañando en estos días.

He has also cancelled a visit to the Cinecitta film studios in Rome, which was scheduled for Monday.
