Polop de la Marina's Castellet Viewpoint has been restored to its former glory following acts of vandalism. This natural landmark, one of the most visited and recognisable in the Marina Baixa region, underwent a joint restoration effort by the Generalitat Valenciana's Department of Environment and Polop Town Hall's Urban Planning and Environment Department.
The restoration work included repairing structural elements, replacing damaged furniture, and conditioning the surroundings while respecting the area's landscape features. The intervention was carried out by the Generalitat's forestry brigades in coordination with municipal technicians.
Rosana Berenguer, Councillor for Urban Planning and Environment, praised the swift action and highlighted the commitment of all parties involved. "We especially want to thank the efforts of the Department of Environment brigades who made this recovery possible," she stated.
Berenguer also called for civic responsibility and respect for natural spaces: "We hope there will be no further incidents, as caring for our environment is everyone's responsibility. The public should value and protect this place as it deserves."
In recent years, the Castellet Viewpoint has become a reference point for leisure, hiking, and landscape contemplation for both Polop residents and the many visitors the town receives. Its restoration not only returns a valuable natural space to the public but also reinforces institutional commitment to environmental protection and ecological awareness.
