Las mascletàs in Alicante are one of the prime venues to observe the dynamics of political life at both provincial and even regional levels. The displays in the Plaza de los Luceros attract those wishing to be seen at the city's Official Festivities, including provincial and regional deputies and mayors from nearby towns.
This Thursday, the second day of displays, saw more subdued participation compared to yesterday's presence of the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, yet remained significant. Among the popular figures, the President of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, arrived at the display accompanied by provincial deputy Juan de Dios Navarro. Also present was the Mayor of Elche, the popular Pablo Ruz. Not missing were the councillors of the Alicante City Council, with some absences compared to the first day, such as Councillor Manuel Villar—who tends to escape the VIP area of the mascletà as soon as possible due to the sun's discomfort.
The socialists also made their presence felt this Thursday with some of the province's key figures. The Mayor of Elda and the provincial secretary-general of the PSPV, Rubén Alfaro, was among the first politicians to arrive at the square after visiting the tents of the television stations in the gardens of the Provincial Council. The delegation was completed by socialist deputies José Díaz—a member of the local PSOE management committee in Alicante—and Yaisel Sánchez. They were accompanied by the municipal spokesperson in the Alicante City Council, Ana Barceló, and several councillors.

From Vox, the municipal group councillors attended this Thursday. The party has already announced that on Friday, June 20, national deputies David García and Jacobo González will attend, and in the afternoon, the Concerto Hall will host the 'Cañas por España' party by Abascal's youth.
Compromís also had the visit of regional deputy Aitana Mas this Thursday, who accompanied the municipal group councillors Rafa Mas and Sara Llobell.
Among the absences at the second mascletà was the EU-Podem councillor, who could not attend this display due to family reasons. However, it is expected that they will not miss any more until the 24th.

Among the curiosities of this day, the president of the Federació de Fogueres, David Olivares, held a pride flag during the display. Olivares apologised early in the morning for a toast in which he used the expression "Last one is a sissy," which was condemned by LGTBIQ+ organisations.
