Police were called to intervene on Tuesday morning, 25th February, at the Alicante-Elche airport to manage an aggressive tourist, as reported by TodoAlicante. The incident occurred at 12:40 pm when the Security Control Centre (CSEG) at the Alicante aerodrome identified a 58-year-old British citizen in a semi-conscious state on level -2.

Medical services requested police presence as the individual remained "aggressive" even while on the stretcher, according to sources close to the case. The same sources indicate that after conducting several tests, the tourist was transferred to the General University Hospital of Elche.

Apparently, the British tourist was waiting in the terminal to catch a flight back to his country but had to remain grounded as he was unfit to board the flight home.

Police interventions at Alicante-Elche airport are frequent. Earlier in February, the National Police apprehended a British drug trafficker wanted in Turkey for smuggling 23 tonnes of heroin. The fugitive arrived on a flight from Stansted, England, and was discovered to have an International Arrest Warrant for Extradition (OEDE) issued by Turkish authorities.

The fugitive was wanted for events that occurred in October 2007. The arrested individual was part of a network involved in the production, transportation, and sale of narcotics. The investigation revealed that the trafficker purchased over 23,600 kilos of heroin from a third party and transported them hidden in a truck loaded with textiles, according to police sources.

But issues are not confined to the terminal. Recently, the British judiciary sentenced a traveller to 48 months in prison for causing chaos on a flight from Alicante-Elche airport to Manchester on 8th November 2023 on an EasyJet flight.

When the Manchester police arrived, they found him restrained by other passengers, face down on the floor. The travellers informed authorities that the troublemaker had been "biting and spitting" and that the behaviour lasted "around half an hour."
