Jupol, the majority union in the National Police, has denounced through a statement the conditions in which officers provide their services in security devices for football matches. A day after the incidents in the Madrid derby between Atlético and Real Madrid at the Metropolitano, the organization accuses the event organizers of "not allowing the National Police to act inside the stadium, leaving these officers' function as a mere presence".

According to Jupol, they have been "warning about the dangerous increase of the ultra phenomenon in Spanish stadiums" for some time. However, despite repeated warnings, the police union warns that the Administration, LaLiga, and football teams still do not take measures in this regard. Therefore, it "reiterates its requests to the General Directorate of Police to implement necessary measures so that LaLiga, as a private organization and organizer of Spain's professional football competition, assumes the costs of the extensive police operations deployed each week".
